Ron C. Haßler, CEO, CODIC Development GmbH - Modern architecture creates places for people that are not only flexible, sustainable and value-adding, but must also offer an experience. One example of the implementation of this guiding principle in Düsseldorf is our project 5YN3RGY between Medienhafen and Lorettoviertel. This is also underlined by the article.
Architecture for people, not just for prestige
A look at the current article in the Handelsblatt Journal shows that successful architecture is not only measured by its external appearance and aesthetics, but also by how it creates a place for people to meet, move and interact. Architecture thus fulfills its original and most important purpose by creating space for the community that has a positive impact on the environment and people's behavior and feelings. This can and should happen both outside and inside the building. In the article, the experts Dr. Sonja Berthold, Dietmar Leyk and Raphael Gielgen use their analysis of over 200 projects to show that architecture is sustainably successful when it serves people. It is not monumental facades that count, but places that offer real quality of life and thus create direct added value for the community.
Spaces for encounters and exchange
A key finding of our own research and the article is that architecture can promote social ties and serve to network society. A lively public space - both outside and inside - with a variety of meeting places promotes precisely this elementary need for community, which is deeply rooted in all of us and contributes to identification.
Such concepts go far beyond pure building aesthetics and focus on meeting human needs through flexibility, openness and generosity. However, this requires more than an optimal platform - it needs a community that is committed and makes the building and the spaces its own.
5YN3RGY as an example of the vision of a new architecture
As described in the article, the 5YN3RGY project between Düsseldorf's Medienhafen and the Loretto district embodies these ideals. Here, the authors' approach becomes reality by using climate-friendly technologies such as geothermal energy and photovoltaics in addition to people-friendly and exciting architecture, and the construction method is geared towards long-term usability. 5YN3RGY shows what a forward-looking campus can look like that adapts to the individual needs of its users and creates space for community. This not only leads to economic stability, but also to sustainable attractiveness for companies and investors.
More than just a workplace - an inspiring living environment
In line with the guiding principles highlighted in the article, 5YN3RGY not only offers workspaces, but also a holistic experience - also for private interests. Situated on a car-free boulevard with a high quality of stay, as well as existing sports facilities and plenty of greenery, the campus will motivate people to work here in the future. The project will thus become a place that people identify with and that is more than just a “must-do” in everyday working life. This is where the core message of the article becomes tangible: 5YN3RGY is creating a vibrant, sustainable district that puts people at the center and strengthens the community.
